That’s actually how you do it. You pronounce every letter like you would in French, but unlike French 1. no nasal vowels and 2. you do actually pronounce every single letter (so knight sounds like…/kənɪkt/ kinda.) And the Irish is just because modern British accents have changed a whole lot more from Middle English than American/Irish accents have, but you would sound like an idiot if you did it with an American accent.
Or if you can fake a good Tidewater Virginia accent that would work…
